A new procedure for the import of smartphones, laptops, tablets, as well as clothing and footwear will be introduced in Uzbekistan. In accordance with a presidential decree, a modern and simplified channel for bringing in foreign goods is being created.
According to the new system, online marketplaces with special licenses will establish bonded warehouses. Goods in these warehouses will be placed in the country without paying customs duties and VAT at the time of import. This will help speed up the import process and increase товар turnover.
Citizens will also have the opportunity to purchase products in these warehouses for personal use. In this case, a single customs payment of 5% will apply for smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
For clothing and footwear products, a different procedure is established — a 3% customs duty is applied, and VAT is additionally charged.
One of the important points is that goods taken from bonded warehouses are intended only for personal use, and resale is strictly prohibited.
The new system is aimed at making the import market more transparent, making prices more competitive, and expanding convenient purchasing opportunities for the population.
