Mobilization law approved in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek parliament has taken a significant step by approving a new law on mobilization preparation and mobilization in the first reading. This law establishes procedures for conducting mobilization preparation and criteria for declaring full or partial mobilization, including necessary procedures and timelines. This is reported by Gazeta.uz reports .

At the May 13 session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Minister of Defense Shukhrat Kholmuhamedov emphasized the necessity of this law. He noted the lack of a unified legal framework regulating mobilization-related relations between state bodies and economic sectors. Furthermore, existing defense and security legislation does not fully cover mobilization issues.

The proposed law, consisting of six chapters and 42 articles, aims to fill these gaps. It defines mechanisms for organizing mobilization preparation during peacetime and conducting mobilization activities. It also outlines the responsibilities of state bodies, economic sectors, and the population in preparing for military aggression.

Additionally, the law provides social guarantees for citizens called up during mobilization, such as job retention, deferment of loan payments, and compensation for damages. Once in effect, the law will regulate mobilization relations under a single legal document, enhance the country's defense capability, and ensure the readiness of ministries, agencies, organizations, and citizens for mobilization.

The law will come into effect 12 months after its publication and will not require additional funding from the state budget.
