Heavy hail falls in Namangan: anti-hail projectiles were used

On July 23, heavy hail was observed in the Yangikurgan district of Namangan region. Uzhydromet provided official information regarding this event. Simultaneously with the occurrence of the natural phenomenon, special measures were taken to prevent the hail.

It is reported that convective hail clouds entered the Yangikurgan district from the northwestern part of the neighboring territory of Kyrgyzstan. In this regard, to prevent hail and protect agricultural crops and products, a total of 18 "Alazan-6" anti-hail projectiles were deployed by the Yangikurgan Anti-Hail Service.

Specifically, 6 projectiles were launched from TKP No. 1 towards the Iskovot, Yangihayot, and Hadikent areas, 6 more from TKP No. 3 towards the Bogiston and Ortayalangoch areas, and 6 projectiles were fired from TKP No. 4 directed towards Bogiston, Ortayalangoch, and Hadikent.

Nevertheless, after the mitigation efforts were completed, hail was recorded at 14:03 in the Zarkent, Uzak, and Yangihayot villages of the Yangikurgan district.

Experts stated that the hail phenomenon was observed at the geographical coordinates of 41 degrees 22 minutes 25.5 seconds north latitude and 71 degrees 40 minutes 56.7 seconds east longitude.

Currently, special field studies are being conducted in the affected areas by specialists to evaluate the effectiveness of the mitigation measures taken and to determine the extent of potential damage. Based on the results, additional information regarding the impact of the event on agriculture and other sectors is expected to be provided.
