Japanese Roland Garros champion Rika Hiraki arrested

Former Japanese professional tennis player and 1997 Roland Garros champion Rika Hiraki has been arrested on suspicion of fraud. It is reported that she is being investigated in connection with a fraud case committed four years ago.

According to investigators, an individual posing on social media as an orthopedic surgeon working in France deceived a woman into transferring 300,000 yen. Police state that surveillance camera footage shows Rika Hiraki withdrawing cash from the account where the funds were deposited.

Law enforcement agencies are currently examining other reports related to this account. The 54-year-old Rika Hiraki won the mixed doubles title at the 1997 Roland Garros tournament alongside India's Mahesh Bhupathi.
