The Ukrainian government knows nothing about the planned talks in Saudi Arabia, does not participate in them and does not intend to recognize them. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on reports that representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States will meet in Riyadh.

"Ukraine will not participate. Ukraine did not know anything about this. Ukraine considers any talks held without its participation to be fruitless. And we will not recognize anything or agreements reached on Ukraine without our participation. We will not recognize such agreements," Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president stressed that the upcoming talks are of "bilateral importance" and that Moscow and Washington "have the right to do so only if they have bilateral issues."

Zelensky is currently on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates. On February 18, the Ukrainian president will travel to Saudi Arabia. According to Zelensky, his visit to Riyadh “has nothing to do with what is happening in Saudi Arabia at the level of representatives of the United States and Russia.”

A meeting of US and Russian representatives is scheduled for Riyadh on February 18. Washington will be represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor to the US President Mike Waltz, and Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff. Moscow has sent Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov to the meeting.

Donald Trump had previously announced that talks on ending the Russian-Ukrainian war would be held in Saudi Arabia. He said that representatives of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine would participate in the talks. According to NBC News sources, the US initially planned to hold separate talks with representatives of Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, the source of the channel noted that Ukrainian representatives have not yet been invited to the talks.
