The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the launch of a multi-million dollar advertising campaign to warn immigrants about violating U.S. immigration laws.

According to the DHS website, a series of video ads will be aired on radio, television and digital platforms in multiple countries and regions in multiple languages.

The agency has released two videos on its YouTube channel: one aimed at people who have already crossed the U.S. border and are in the country illegally, and the other aimed at people outside the country.

In a video message, Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem thanked President Donald Trump for “securing our borders, removing illegal immigrants who have committed crimes, and putting America first.”

“President Trump has made it clear that if you are here illegally, we will find you and deport you. You will never return to the United States,” the first video from the Homeland Security Office says.

In a second video, Noem warned people considering entering the United States illegally and promised to prosecute those who come to the country and violate American law.

In her message, the politician also blamed “weak politicians who have left the border wide open for too long,” saying that this has led to problems with drug trafficking, increased crime, and human trafficking.

"If you leave now, you may have the opportunity to return in the future, enjoy our freedom, and realize the American dream. America welcomes those who respect its laws," the appeal says.

The advertising campaign is part of the new administration's broader efforts to tighten immigration policy. In particular, in late January, President Donald Trump signed the Laken Riley Act, named in memory of a 22-year-old student who was killed by a Venezuelan immigrant. The law requires the Department of Homeland Security to detain illegal immigrants suspected of theft and violence, even if they have not been formally charged.

Earlier, the president also ordered the opening of a center at the US military base in Guantanamo Bay to hold immigrants who are in the United States illegally. The center can accommodate up to 30,000 people.
