China unveils supersonic passenger plane
The Chinese aircraft manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) has officially unveiled the C949 supersonic passenger aircraft. The South China Morning Post reported on this innovative airliner.

C949 - the air transport of the future

The C949 aircraft has a range of up to 11 thousand kilometers. This will allow it to fly non-stop, for example, from Britain to Malaysia. According to the project, it will have higher efficiency than the previously produced Concorde aircraft.

One of the important features is the reduction of the sonic boom to 83.9 decibels. This is about the same noise level as a regular hair dryer. This could help to overcome legal restrictions on supersonic flights.

Advantages over Concorde

The C949 is designed to carry 168 passengers, significantly more than the Concorde's 128. The C949 is also expected to have high safety standards. For information, Concorde was completely taken out of service in 2000 after a crash near Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, killing 113 people.

Technological capabilities

The C949 has seven fuel tanks, which can store a total of 42 tons of fuel. Fuel is automatically redistributed between the tanks to maintain a set center of gravity. The aircraft will be equipped with an artificial intelligence system to control this process.

Project planned for 2024

COMAC was founded in 2008 at the initiative of the Chinese government and is currently under US sanctions. The supersonic C949 airliner is planned to be put into service by 2049, that is, in time for the centennial anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party.

The C949 project is expected to be a new revolution in the field of air transport. If all plans are successfully implemented, this airliner could eliminate existing restrictions on supersonic air travel and usher in a new era in the aviation industry.
