Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has given evidence in court in Spain as part of a tax fraud case. The Italian coach is accused of failing to pay 1.2 million euros in taxes in 2014-2015.
Prosecutor's claim
The Madrid prosecutor's office is demanding a prison sentence of 4 years and 9 months and a fine of 3.1 million euros for Ancelotti. According to the indictment, despite being a tax resident in Spain, he declared only his salary from Real Madrid, but hid income from image rights.
Ancelotti's total tax debt is set at 1,217,958 euros, the fine is 243,593 euros, and the interest is 47,298 euros.
Ancelotti's position
According to his testimony in court, the Italian coach said that he did not fully understand the legal procedures and that he had spoken to his advisers, but did not pay attention to the details:
When Real Madrid offered to transfer the image rights to me, I contacted my English adviser, and then I did not go into the details. I thought everything was legal. I did not know that it could be considered fraud. "I have not received any information that the prosecutor's office is investigating me," Ancelotti said.
Trial and next steps
The court has not yet issued a final decision on Ancelotti's defense. However, if he is found guilty, he could face a real prison sentence instead of community service or a financial fine.
After the trial, Ancelotti left the courthouse and told reporters: "Everything is fine."
The fate of the Real Madrid coach is still undecided, and the trial is ongoing. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
