On the night of April 24, Russian military forces launched a large-scale attack on the Ukrainian capital Kiev using ballistic missiles and drones. The most severe damage was observed in the Svyatoshinsky district, where a multi-storey building was hit by a missile. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that drone fragments also fell in the capital's Holosiivskyi, Podolsk and Shevchenko districts.

According to preliminary data, eight people were killed. Initially, the number of victims was reported as 10, but officials later revised this figure. Another 77 people sought medical help, 31 of whom were hospitalized. Five children are among the injured. Rescue and search operations are currently underway at the scene. Rescuers are clearing the remains of a collapsed building in the Svyatoshinsky district.

As a result of the attack in Kyiv, a total of 12 buildings were damaged. According to the publication “Suspilne”, among the dead is the 84-year-old mother of a Kyiv resident named Lyudmyla.
“She was elderly, but strong. She was still planning to live,” says Lyudmyla.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has canceled a number of meetings during his visit to South Africa and announced that he will return to Ukraine immediately. “Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire and ceasefire 44 days ago at the request of the United States. However, Russia has continued to kill civilians during this time and is not being punished,” Zelensky wrote.
