Palestinian economic recovery will take at least 15 years, Palestinian Minister of National Economy Muhammad al-Amur said at a meeting of the Arab League Economic and Social Affairs Council in Baghdad.
According to him, even if the war in the Gaza Strip ends, it will take a long time, tireless work and international assistance to return the lives of Palestinians to their previous state.
“It will not be easy to return to normal life after the clashes with Israel. It will take us at least 15 years. But even in this situation, our people are showing resilience. No matter how hard the occupier tries, the Palestinians will not be defeated,” said Minister al-Amur.
“Genocide is taking place in Gaza, and the world is silent”
In his speech, Muhammad al-Amur described the situation in Gaza as “genocide” and noted that Israel is blocking humanitarian aid.
“Thousands of trucks are parked at the border. They only have aid, but they are not allowed to enter Gaza. On the other hand, the world continues to watch these massacres as spectators. This is a shame for humanity,” the minister said.
He noted that more than 1,000 checkpoints in the West Bank have paralyzed economic activity. “This is not political terrorism, but economic terrorism,” he added.
Unemployment in Gaza and the West Bank reaches 51 percent
The Palestinian economy is facing complete destruction. According to official figures, the unemployment rate in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip has exceeded 51 percent. This is a dangerous indicator for all sectors of the country, at the level of catastrophe.
“Not a single gram of aid has been delivered to Gaza since March 2, 2025. Israel has closed all crossings. This is leading to a further deepening of the crisis,” al-Amur stressed.
Israeli military operations resumed
On March 18, the Israeli army, violating the peace regime, began an even larger-scale attack on the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office justified this decision by saying that “HAMAS failed to show itself in the negotiations.” The goal, it was stated, was to free the hostages.
In response to these actions, Hamas blamed Israel and the United States for the resumption of the war.
