A passenger on a China Eastern Airlines flight in Yunnan Province, China, stunned everyone with an unusual act. This was reported by Need to Know.
The incident occurred on May 12. As the plane was completing its landing and moving along the runway, one of the passengers unexpectedly opened the emergency exit door. It turned out that the man explained this action by wanting to “get some fresh air.” He pulled the emergency exit handle, causing the evacuation ladder to open.
Panic broke out among other passengers, who were shocked by the situation. The crew tried to defuse the situation, but the incident delayed the disembarkation of the plane by about 20 minutes.
Police were called to the scene, and the offending passenger was detained by police officers and taken into custody. It is currently reported that this person may be fined from 100,000 to 200,000 yuan (about 27.7 thousand US dollars).
Aviation experts have noted that opening emergency doors in this way can pose a serious threat to the safety of the aircraft. It was also recalled once again that such actions by passengers may lead to criminal liability.
China Eastern Airlines announced that it would step up awareness-raising efforts to further strengthen passenger safety after this incident. The airline also asked other passengers to refrain from such illegal actions and strictly follow the safety rules on board the aircraft. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
