QR code will be mandatory for visa-free travelers to Russia

QR code will be mandatory for visa-free travelers to Russia
Starting from June 30, 2025, all foreign citizens, including citizens of Uzbekistan, arriving in Russia without a visa, will be required to register online in the Gosuslugi RuID mobile application before traveling. This was officially announced by the responsible Russian authorities.

It is impossible to cross the border without a QR code

According to the system requirements, persons arriving in Russia without a visa will need to register through a special mobile application and receive a QR code. This QR code will be mandatory when crossing the border.

What do you need to do to register?

The application process is very simple:
- Create a personal account in the Gosuslugi RuID application;
- Upload a photo and personal data;
- Indicate the period of stay in Russia.

This application must be filled out at least 72 hours before arrival in Russia. If the trip is made suddenly - for example, due to the death of a close relative or urgent medical reasons, the application can be submitted even 4 hours in advance.

Which persons are exempt from registration?

Some categories of citizens are exempt from this procedure:
- Belarusian citizens;
- Children under 6 years old;
- Persons holding a visa, temporary or permanent residence permit.

For children aged 6 to 18, the application is submitted by their parents or legal representatives. They will also need to receive their own personal registration code.

From the editorial staff of Zamin.uz:
The new procedure is an important change for Uzbeks traveling to Russia, requiring more precise and planned preparation before the trip. Since it will not be possible to cross the border without a QR code, every traveler should be prepared for this innovation. How do you assess it? Is it a good procedure or an excess burden?
