Trump Demands Investigation Against Harris: Question of Illegal Payments to Celebrities

Trump Demands Investigation Against Harris: Question of Illegal Payments to Celebrities
U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris of several violations as part of the 2024 election campaign. One of his main claims is that Harris’s team allegedly made “illegal payments” to celebrities. He wrote about this on his Truth Social page.

“This is absolutely illegal!” — Trump’s Position

According to Trump, Harris paid stars such as Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, and Bono from U2 to appear in her campaign. He questioned: “If they are truly her supporters, why were they paid?”

The President labeled it a “desperate and costly marketing tactic” and reminded that U.S. law prohibits paying celebrities to endorse candidates for public office. He demanded a thorough investigation.

“Broken System and Pseudo-Patriotism”

Trump also described the celebrities supporting Harris as “unpatriotic artists” and accused them of taking advantage of a “corrupt American system.” He stressed that such behavior is unacceptable both politically and morally.

Is Celebrity Influence Overrated?

NYU professor Lawrence Maslon stated that despite Harris’s celebrity endorsements, she still lost the race. According to him, average Americans understand that Beyoncé’s or Springsteen’s political opinions are less relevant than the price of gas or eggs.

From Zamin.uz Editorial:
The 2024 U.S. election atmosphere is becoming increasingly heated. Trump’s accusations and calls for investigation, along with the involvement of celebrities in Harris’s campaign, show the election is turning into a battle of not just political but legal and ethical dimensions.
