South Korea has decided to stop propaganda on the border

South Korea has decided to stop propaganda on the border
In a major development in the tense relations between South Korea and North Korea, Seoul's military on June 11 stopped broadcasting propaganda broadcasts over loudspeakers along the border. The move was taken in order to restore trust and peace on the Korean Peninsula, Yonhap news agency reported.

According to an official statement, "this decision is part of the efforts to restore trust and mutual respect between the Korean people and to carry out reforms for peace." According to officials, the tensions between the two countries in recent years have been caused by various measures, such as sending garbage balloons across the border and broadcasting propaganda.

As is known, a year ago, North Korea sent garbage balloons across the border into South Korea, and in response, Seoul resumed broadcasting information, K-pop songs and calls for evacuation through loudspeakers. These broadcasts are said to be audible up to 10 kilometers during the day and up to 24 kilometers at night, and can affect North Korean soldiers.

The new decision shows that both sides are ready for certain freedoms and are committed to resolving problems peacefully. North Korea has also stopped sending garbage balloons across the border.

It is worth noting that on June 3, South Korea held an early presidential election, in which Lee Jae-myung, a representative of the opposition Toburo Democratic Party, won. During his election campaign, he promised to stop propaganda, radio broadcasts and leaflet distribution campaigns against Pyongyang. It is hoped that this political step of the new president will serve to ease the situation on the Korean Peninsula and restore trust between the two peoples.

According to experts, this measure will be of great importance in paving the way for negotiations between the two countries and strengthening stability in the region. Political changes on the Korean Peninsula are of great importance for the entire region.
