At the traditional International Economic Forum (SPIEF) held in St. Petersburg, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his opinion on current geopolitical events in the world. The president's speech was rich with interesting points for forum participants and international media — in particular, there were open statements about the war in Ukraine, the tension between Israel and Iran, and the prospects for the development of the Russian army.
About Ukraine
Putin once again confirmed his position on Ukraine. He emphasized that he considers Russians and Ukrainians to be one nation, saying that all of Ukraine is “ours.” At the same time, he noted the need to recognize reality, that there is respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence.
The president stated that he is not asking for an agreement with Ukraine, but demands recognition of the real situation formed on the battlefield. He also said that there is no plan to seize Sumy region, but does not rule out this possibility. He reminded that Ukraine should return to the 1991 independence declaration — that is, restore the status of a neutral, non-nuclear, and non-aligned state.
About the Israel-Iran conflict
Putin called the rumors about an assassination attempt on Iran’s Supreme Leader “rhetoric” and emphasized that this should not happen. At the same time, he noted that Russia maintains relations with both sides, but is involved not as a mediator, but to promote ideas of peace.
“A solution should be sought without haste and without harm. I think this conflict can be resolved politically,” he said. Putin stated that Russia has its own proposals regarding this complex situation, but did not clarify them.
About the army and defense industry
Putin announced major reforms in equipping the Armed Forces with modern weapons and equipment. According to him, Russia now aims to work by integrating the defense and civilian industries, without separating these areas.
The main goal of this is the production of dual-use products suitable for both military and civilian purposes, expanding export potential, and launching joint military-technical projects with friendly countries.
Conclusion
Putin’s speech in St. Petersburg revealed new milestones not only in Russia’s domestic political directions, but also in its foreign relations. His speech is being closely followed by the international community and analysts. At the same time, these statements once again confirm the increasingly complicated situation in the world.
