Erdogan gave a tough response to Israel…
The latest statement by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has caused great controversy in the process of international relations in the region. He gave a tough and open answer to the criticism of the Israeli leadership regarding Iran's attack on a hospital.

Speaking at a conference in Istanbul, Erdogan recalled the atrocities committed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip. According to him, it was Israel that carried out more than 700 attacks on hospitals in Gaza. "Such large-scale attacks on medical institutions in the Gaza Strip alone are among the most shameful and bloody events of our time," the Turkish leader emphasized.

According to Erdogan, a state that has turned Gaza into "the world's largest open-air prison" talking about human rights "is not only hypocrisy, but the clearest manifestation of shamelessness and impudence."

According to reports, the tension between Israel and Iran escalated again on June 13. On that day, the Israeli side launched large-scale military operations. In response, the Iranian side also launched several rockets. According to Israeli officials, one of them hit the "Soroka" hospital in the city of Be’er Sheva, injuring more than 80 people.

High-ranking Israeli officials — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Sports Minister Miki Zohar — sharply criticized Iran's actions. Netanyahu promised Tehran a "great response", and Zohar said: "Only the vilest people attack a hospital."

However, Iran denied these accusations. According to Iranian officials, the rocket was not aimed at the hospital, the damage was caused by the shock wave. They also provided information that the "Soroka" hospital was used for military purposes and that Israeli soldiers were being treated there.

This incident was assessed by international media and analysts as "hypocrisy". The influential Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" columnist Yoav Groveis wrote: "If hospitals in Gaza are shelled, we try to justify it. But if our hospital is attacked, we shout that the rules of the game are broken."

The UN, WHO, and the International Committee of the Red Cross issued official statements on the inviolability of hospitals. "Under any circumstances, attacks on medical institutions are unacceptable," the official statement says.

Turkish President Erdogan called the situation in Gaza "a shameful page for humanity." In his opinion, Western countries, especially the USA and the European Union, by remaining silent, are showing their true face.

According to a report published by Harvard University researchers, after October 7, 2023, the Israeli army launched airstrikes on 36 hospitals in Gaza. The most tragic incident was at the "Al-Ahli" hospital, where more than 800 civilians died.

World Health Organization Director Tedros Ghebreyesus said: "More people are dying from diseases than from bombings in Gaza. Because hospitals have been destroyed, there are no medicines, and medical services are in a catastrophic state."

The impact of war on human life and actions such as targeting hospitals in military operations are considered violations of international law. But today's events in Gaza show how unprotected these rights are.

Turkey, in turn, announced that it would continue diplomatic efforts to restore peace and justice in the region. According to Erdogan, this is not only an issue of one country or one people, but the honor of all humanity.
