Post-strike images of Fordo nuclear facility emerge
New satellite imagery taken on June 22 shows six fresh craters at the Fordo nuclear site — likely entry points for US munitions. The grey markings on the ground appear to be concrete debris expelled by the explosions.

According to a US general, initial battle damage assessments indicate that all three sites sustained extremely serious damage and destruction. A full assessment of the extent of the damage may take some time.

Reportedly, the US used six 13.5-ton Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs. There is no large blast effect at the entry point, as the bombs are designed to detonate deeper inside the facility.

The images suggest that three separate munitions were dropped on two distinct impact points. Tunnel entrances appear to have been blocked. The lack of impact points near them suggests Iran may have taken deliberate steps to protect them from targeted aerial strikes.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization called the bombing of the three nuclear sites a “barbaric violation of international law.”

Saudi Arabia and the UN’s nuclear watchdog — the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) — said there had been no rise in radiation levels following the attack.

Hassan Abedini, deputy political director of Iranian state TV, said on air that Iran had evacuated the three nuclear sites “a while ago.” He added that “no major damage occurred because the materials had already been removed.”
