Amid escalating tensions and conflicts on the world political stage, the secret front between Israel and Iran has added another episode. According to The Washington Post, Israeli intelligence, before launching strikes on Iran’s key nuclear sites and eliminating top officials on June 13, began to directly threaten Iranian generals and officials.
According to details of the covert operation, Israeli intelligence agents fluent in Farsi called Iran’s top officials on their mobile phones and officially warned them of serious consequences. Anonymous sources note that at least 20 Iranian officials received such calls, and some of these threatening conversations were delivered to the Washington Post newsroom as audio recordings.
In one of these threatening conversations, an agent with an altered voice addresses the Iranian general:
“You, your wife, and your children have 12 hours to escape. Otherwise, you will be our next target. Every person on our list faces a real physical threat. We are closer to you than your jugular vein. Don’t forget that!”
At the start of the call, the agent introduces himself:
“I am a representative of the country that sent Salami, Bagheri, and Shamkhani to hell,” alluding to three high-ranking Iranian officials assassinated by Israel in recent years.
