The American-made Falcon 9 rocket once again soared into the sky on July 13. This time, it successfully placed Israel’s next-generation communications satellite, Dror-1, into orbit, reported space.com.
According to available information, the rocket was launched from the U.S. Space Force's Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral, Florida. There were no delays in the launch schedule. The satellite onboard — Dror-1 — was developed by Israel's defense industry at the request of the country's government.
The device was designed to strengthen Israel’s communication infrastructure and expand capabilities for secure data transmission. The satellite, costing approximately 200 million dollars, is expected to operate for at least 15 years.
Its mission includes ensuring protected data transmission not only for civil but also for governmental, military, and state services. It is noted that this satellite launch will further enhance Israel’s independence and technical capacity in the field of global communications.
Another notable feature of the launch is that it marked the 13th use of Falcon 9’s first-stage booster. After completing its task, the booster executed a controlled vertical landing on the Just Read the Instructions sea platform in the Atlantic Ocean. Through this, SpaceX once again proved the viability of its reusable rocket technology.
It is worth noting that a few months earlier, in January, SpaceX had also launched a satellite belonging to the UAE. That satellite, Thuraya 4, was intended to provide mobile communication services across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
According to experts, each Falcon 9 mission conducted by SpaceX not only serves astronomical purposes but also strengthens modern information technologies, defense capabilities, and geopolitical influence.
In today’s world, new satellites play a crucial role not only in communication but also in ensuring national security. The Dror-1 launch serves as yet another proof of this. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
