The US is trying to implement the “Golden Dome” without Musk

Serious geopolitical movements have begun around one of the largest defense initiatives in the history of the United States — the “Golden Dome” project. Reuters reported this, citing reliable sources.

According to the information, the administration of Donald Trump has committed to creating a national security shield capable of detecting and destroying next-generation missiles. At the initial stage, Elon Musk’s SpaceX company was considered the main candidate for implementing the technical and practical parts of the project.

However, in recent times, due to the cooling of relations between Musk and Trump, White House leaders have been forced to look for a new partner. As a precaution, the Department of Defense has also begun negotiations with Amazon’s Project Kuiper and major American defense contractors.

Through this, they are demonstrating their intention to avoid dependence on a single company and to build an effective defense system against potential threats using a multi-source technological approach for such a massive and strategic project like the “Golden Dome.”

At the same time, the $175 billion budget allocated for the project is attracting many companies. This amount, without doubt, represents a huge opportunity for both private and state-owned enterprises.

In addition, according to Reuters sources, SpaceX still remains one of the most realistic candidates for contracts related to launches and transport logistics within the “Golden Dome” project. Because the company's recent successful projects, especially Falcon launches and the Starlink program, make it technically unmatched.

Experts believe the “Golden Dome” will not only strengthen the US's position in defense but may also affect the global balance of power in space. Therefore, political and economic competition surrounding the project is likely to intensify.

No final decision has been made yet. But the current developments, negotiations, and cautious selection of technological partners indicate a significant shift in the US national security strategy.
