Europol, with the assistance of French police, arrested the administrator of the Russian-language XSS.is hacking forum operating in Ukraine. Since 2013, XSS.is has been one of the most important anonymous hacking forums, with over 50,000 users.
The XSS.is forum has been used by hackers, in particular, for selling hacking tools, stolen data, and illegal services. Europol’s statement highlights that this forum has had a significant impact on global cybercrime.
The long-term investigation, which was initiated by the French side in 2021, was carried out in close cooperation with the European Union. In Kyiv, the individual allegedly running the forum was arrested.
According to Europol, this individual played a key role in organizing criminal activities. He acted as a mediator, resolving conflicts among criminals and ensuring the security of transactions. It is also believed that he managed a communication service for cybercriminals called thesecure.biz.
This arrest is an important step in the fight against global cybersecurity and demonstrates successful efforts to eliminate cybercrime.
