Tourists' paradise filled with trash: Mallorca's secret beach on the verge of disaster

Mallorca’s Caló des Moro beach used to be known only to locals — a quiet spot full of natural beauty. But over the past year, the beach has become a victim of tourism due to widespread promotion on social media.

The tourist flow has increased sharply: up to 4000 visitors and over 1000 cars arrive daily.

Beautiful scenery — buried under trash: garbage is sticking out from under the beach’s fine sand. Every day, tourists take away approximately 70 kg of sand.

Locals are blocking roads and protesting with signs saying “The beach is ours.” Flyers are handed out to tourists, asking them not to go down to the beach.

Social media is to blame: there are over 1300 TikTok videos with millions of views — the beach has become an “internet victim.”

Photos of the beach have been removed from official tourism websites. Influencers have been advised to promote other, lesser-known places.
