President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking on August 15 at the Teachers’ August Conference, gave detailed comments on the political and economic reforms taking place in the country. According to him, the principle of meritocracy now prevails in the public service, and family or clan ties are no longer tolerated in appointments to positions.
Political and economic reforms
According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan is carrying out large-scale and complex reforms. The political system has been completely renewed, and a new “roadmap” for economic development has been defined. The president noted that positive changes are also taking place in the consciousness and thinking of citizens.
— Today, by joining forces, we as an entire nation are building a fair, clean, and strong Kazakhstan. To form a new quality of the nation, we have initiated important reforms and achieved tangible results, — he said.
Meritocracy and new personnel policy
The president emphasized that professionalism and knowledge are now the main criteria in the system of power. Only those with work experience and the necessary professional skills are appointed to public positions.
— There is no longer a family-clan system in power. In appointments, knowledge and professionalism come first, — Tokayev added.
New generation and national values
In the head of state’s view, a young generation that values freedom and can think independently is emerging in the country. Respect for law and order has become a stable principle in society.
— Kazakhstan has stepped into a qualitatively new stage of development. But it is not enough to announce changes; it is also important to consolidate them and renew people’s mindset, — the president stressed.
Tokayev’s statement marks a new stage in the country’s political life aimed at strengthening a system based on fairness, transparency, and knowledge. Citizens and observers are eagerly awaiting the practical results of these reforms in the near future.
