29 People Injured in 5.8 Magnitude Earthquake in Indonesia

 A 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Posso district on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia, injuring 29 people. Two of the victims are in critical condition and were taken to the hospital.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake struck 15 kilometers north of the city of Posso at 5:38 AM local time. The unique feature of this earthquake was that it was followed by 10 aftershocks. The strongest of them had a magnitude of 3.2, while the rest had a magnitude of 2.0.

According to the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), all the injured have been taken to hospitals, and necessary medical treatment is being provided. Currently, two individuals are in critical condition.

The agency also reported that there is no tsunami threat, which was a relief for the local population. Furthermore, local media reported that the earthquake's magnitude was actually 6.0.

It is noteworthy that this incident, along with the aftershocks, highlighted once again the need for Indonesia to be prepared for natural disasters. This may help reinforce thoughts about the importance of being prepared for any catastrophe and taking steps to address them.
