10-Year-Old Chess Player from London Sets Historic Record

10-year-old schoolboy from London, Bodhana Sivanandan, set a new chess record and became the youngest player to defeat a grandmaster, earning a place in chess history. According to CNN and BBC, this victory helped him gain a significant place in the history of chess.

Bodhana gained attention by defeating 60-year-old Pete Wells in the final of the UK Chess Championship. This victory brought his chess achievements to a new level, as he earned the title of International Master. According to the International Chess Federation, Bodhana's record (10 years, 5 months, and 3 days) broke the record set by American Karisa IP, who defeated a grandmaster in 2019 at the age of 10 years and 11 months.

Currently, Sivanandan became the youngest chess player to represent England internationally, participating in the women's team at the Chess Olympiad in Hungary.

Bodhana started playing chess at the age of 5 and accidentally began playing during the COVID-19 pandemic. His interest in chess was sparked when he saw a chessboard in one of his father’s friend's bags and decided to use the pieces as toys. This moment ignited his passion for chess, and from that point on, he began practicing seriously.

Bodhana's achievements as a young chess player will significantly impact the growth of chess's importance in the country and contribute to the intellectual development of youth.
