An Israeli airstrike on the “Nasser” hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza, led to the deaths of at least 20 people, including five international journalists. According to BBC, among the victims were medical workers. The second strike targeted rescuers who had arrived to help the injured after the first attack. The journalists who died worked with Reuters, AP, Al Jazeera, and Middle East Eye.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the event a "tragic accident" and stated that a broad investigation is underway. According to the UN, at least 242 journalists have been killed during the ongoing conflict in Gaza. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called for an independent investigation into the deaths of journalists and raised concerns over the increasing deaths among children due to hunger. Since October 2023, over 100 children have died from hunger, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
