The US Secret Operation was concealed by searching for the "Titanic."

The search for the "Titanic" in the Atlantic Ocean in 1985 served as a cover for a highly secret and strategic operation conducted by the US Navy. This was reported to CNN by the famous oceanographer Robert Ballard, who discovered the liner.

"At that time, many considered the search for the Titanic an ordinary scientific expedition, but it was actually built to cover up a top-secret military operation carried out by US Navy intelligence officers... We would like the Soviet Union not to know where our submarine is planted," Ballard told reporters.

According to Ballard, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the discovery of the "Titanic," he revealed the details of this secret operation. Its main objective was to identify the sunken US nuclear submarines Thresher and Scorpion in the Atlantic Ocean. To accomplish this task, an innovative technology specifically developed by Ballard - a robotic search engine called "Argo" - was used. Through this device, he provided the ability to remotely transmit video to the ship.

Ballard assured the U.S. Navy to allocate time and resources to the expedition. At the same time, despite many years of careful planning, he had no clear idea of how to find the sunken "Titanic." The main reason for this was the extremely limited time allotted for the search and the use of an advanced and complex ship's sonar system by a team of competing French engineers led by Jean-Louis Michel. This technology was supposed to help determine the location of the legendary liner faster, but the limited time and limitations of possibilities did not guarantee success.

The scientist emphasized that the study of the remains of the Scorpion submarine provided valuable information for him in finding the site of the Titanic disaster. The large liner left behind a long chain of debris after sinking, although it was previously assumed that they would accumulate in one place. "The heavier objects sank faster, the lighter ones slower," Ballard explained.
