Energy drinks banned for children in the UK

The government of Great Britain came up with a new initiative. Now, the sale of energy drinks containing more than 150 milligrams of caffeine per liter to children under 16 may be prohibited. It was announced that consultations on this issue have begun.

According to official data, such drinks may seem harmless to children, but they disrupt sleep patterns, negatively affect concentration, and harm overall health. Energy drinks with high sugar content further increase the risk of excess weight and obesity.

Health Minister Wes Street said in a statement:

- Energy drinks have a negative impact on children's daily lives. Insomnia, mental fatigue, and disorder reduce their well-being. Therefore, we are taking measures aimed at limiting this product.

Studies show that at least 100,000 children consume energy drinks at least once a day. This negatively affects not only their learning process, but also their mental state.

Minister of Education Bridget Phillips called this measure "a step towards the formation of the healthiest generation of children in history." In his opinion, through prohibition, it is possible to protect the health of students, protect them from bad habits, and guide them to a proper lifestyle.
