Hamas: Contact lost with two hostages

The Hamas movement announced that, as a result of Israeli airstrikes, it lost the ability to communicate with two hostages. They are demanding that the air raids be halted for at least one day.

According to AFP and Reuters, the military wing of the Palestinian group — the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades — stated on Sunday, September 28, that after IDF operations in Gaza City’s Sabra and Tal al-Hawa neighborhoods over the past two days, contact was lost with two Israelis taken hostage on October 7, 2023 — Matan Angrest and Omri Miran.

Reuters notes that Hamas has called on Israel to suspend airstrikes for 24 hours starting from 6:00 p.m. local time “to evacuate the hostages from the dangerous area.”

AFP recalls that earlier Hamas also reported losing contact with a hostage holding both Israeli and U.S. citizenship, but that person was released a few days later.
