Military detained in Kyrgyzstan due to corruption

Several servicemen of the Ministry of Defense system in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, were detained for corruption during the recruitment process. This was reported by the official press service of the State Committee for National Security.

According to the report, the servicemen organized a corruption scheme by taking bribes in the process of contract-based military service.

During the investigation, during the work carried out by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and military security, actions incompatible with maintaining peace were identified. According to the corrupt scheme, the military demanded bribes from citizens ranging from 70,000 to 90,000 soums for military service.

According to other data, citizens who refused to give bribes before entering service faced various administrative obstacles.

According to the results of the investigation, by the decision of the Lenin District Court of Bishkek, the suspect, the commander of a military unit of the Ministry of Defense, B.M., was detained for two months. The investigation is also continuing to identify other individuals and determine the responsibility of the perpetrators.

Work is underway to clarify the issue with an investigation and inspection.
