Flights suspended at airport due to drone attack in Germany

Flights were temporarily suspended at Munich Airport in Germany on the evening of October 2 due to an attack by drones. This was reported by DW.

At 22:18 local time, at least 17 flights were canceled at the airport, and another 15 aircraft were diverted to the airports of Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Vienna, and Frankfurt. This emergency affected approximately 3,000 passengers. Airport operations resumed on October 3 at 5:00 AM.

According to German police, the drones also flew over the cities of Erding and Freising around Munich Airport. It was noted that the drones were reportedly operating in the sky from 9:30 PM to midnight. Currently, an investigation is underway, and helicopters are being used in the search. The ownership of the drones is still unknown.

Although the ownership of the drones has not yet been determined, this situation has seriously affected the airport's operations, and passenger flights have been delayed. Due to the possibility of a lengthy investigation process, further strengthening of airport security measures is expected in the future.
