Crown and necklaces from the Louvre Museum disappear without a trace

In Paris, one of the world’s most famous museums — the Louvre — has once again become a target for criminals. On Sunday morning, it was reported that several ancient exhibits had been stolen from the museum.

According to the French Ministry of Culture, among the stolen items are a 19th-century golden crown belonging to the family of Napoleon III, a necklace adorned with a blue sapphire, and several other historical pieces of jewelry. Experts estimate their total value at around 10 million euros.

The French government has described the incident as a “crime against national cultural heritage” and, with the assistance of Interpol, expanded the investigation to an international level. So far, no suspects have been detained, but police are analyzing surveillance footage from cameras around the museum.

Following the incident, the Louvre administration temporarily closed the museum. All exhibits have been placed under additional protection, and security systems are being rechecked.

Experts warn that if the stolen items appear on the black market, they will be extremely difficult to trace, as each piece has unique historical patterns and design. For this reason, the French government has issued official notices to museums and collectors worldwide.

The Louvre theft is considered one of the largest cultural heritage crimes in Europe in recent years.
