Russian drones launched a massive attack on the city of Sumy

The city of Sumy, located in northern Ukraine, faced another drone attack by Russian troops on the evening of October 30. According to local authorities, the attacks simultaneously affected several districts of the city and caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

Sergey Krivosheenko, a representative of the Sumi city administration, reported the situation via Telegram at 10:10 PM local time. According to him, the drones were mainly aimed at civilian facilities in the Kovpakovsky district of the city. "Sumi is currently under drone attacks. "Civil infrastructure was hit in the Kovpakovsky district, there are casualties," he wrote.

Shortly after, Krivosheenko reported again - this time one of the drones directly hit a multi-story building in the Zarechny district. As a result, part of the house was destroyed and a fire broke out. According to authorities, the fire was quickly brought under control, but significant material damage was recorded. At the same time, a two-story residential building in the Kovpakovsky district was also damaged.

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleg Grigorov, provided additional information about the attack. He noted that Russian troops sent a total of 10 drones to the city within an hour. "All the strikes are directed only at civilian infrastructure. They hit residential buildings, in particular, nine- and two-story buildings," Grigorov wrote.

According to preliminary information, a young girl and an elderly woman were injured as a result of the impact on the apartment building. They were provided with medical assistance at the scene. It was also reported that four people were injured in a two-story building.

This is not the first attack on Sumy. On the morning of October 30, a gas station in the city was also hit by a drone. Four people were injured, and several cars caught fire. Also, on October 27, part of the city was left without electricity due to the Russian attack, and an emergency shutdown regime was introduced throughout the region.

According to estimates by the Sumy Military Administration, Russian troops have attacked this area 543 times with various weapons since the beginning of 2025 alone. As a result of these attacks, 72 people were killed, and another 434 were wounded.

The situation remains dangerous for the city's residents. The authorities warn citizens to go to shelters when the air raid siren activates, prepare the necessary documents and medicines in advance.

Currently, the Ukrainian military and rescue service are working at the scene. The fires are being extinguished, and people are being evacuated from the destroyed houses. In order to ensure the safety of citizens, access to certain areas of the city has been temporarily restricted.

This attack in Sumy demonstrates the escalating pressure the war on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Local residents and international organizations are calling on the Russian side to stop actions against the civilian population.
