On November 6, the Libyan National Reconciliation Authority announced the release of Hannibal Gaddafi, the son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was arrested in Beirut in 2015. This was reported by the information portal Lebanon24.
According to the statement, the Lebanese government released Gaddafi from custody and lifted his ban on leaving the country. At the same time, it was reported that the court also canceled the previously established bail of $11 million.
The Libyan government expressed gratitude to Lebanese President Joseph Aun and parliamentary speaker Nabih Berri "for their assistance and cooperation in resolving this issue."
Gaddafi's 50-year-old son was kidnapped by Amal militants in Syria in 2015 and subsequently handed over to Lebanese law enforcement agencies. In 2017, he was accused of concealing information about Musa Sadr, a Shia imam who went missing in Libya in 1978.
