Eight people who attempted to kill the Prosecutor General have been arrested in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. According to an official statement released by the country's federal prosecutor's office, these individuals are connected to the Albanian mafia and have prior convictions.
According to reports, in July 2025, federal authorities received a report about a planned assassination attempt on the Prosecutor General of Brussels. As a result of the investigation, the main suspects were identified and placed under surveillance.
According to media reports, Brussels has recently been experiencing a period of increased activity, especially by drug trafficking groups. Violence organized by criminals associated with the Albanian mafia is on the rise.
According to Belgian officials, more than 100 dangerous European criminal groups are currently operating in the country. Several metro stations were temporarily closed following mass shootings in Brussels in February of this year. These events are causing security services to strengthen control over criminal structures.
Currently, investigative actions are being carried out against eight detained suspects. The prosecutor's office plans to prosecute them for attempting to commit a serious crime.
