The most expensive houses in the world: Swiss cities are leading

By 2025, the housing market in the world's largest cities had become even more tense - prices, especially in the condominium segment, had risen in many places to an insurmountable level. The list of the world's 10 most expensive cities, published by the Numbeo portal, highlighted one aspect of this year's results: five Swiss cities are among the TOP-10.

The absolute leader of the rating is Hong Kong. The average cost per square meter of housing there is $25,339. Hong Kong's long-standing leadership is influenced by several factors: limited land area, high population density, developed infrastructure, and the attractiveness of the metropolis as one of the largest financial centers in Asia.

The second and third places also belong to the most developed country in Europe - Switzerland.

- Zurich - 24.8 thousand dollars per 1 sq.m.

- Lausanne - 22.9 thousand dollars per 1 sq.m.

Singapore took fourth place. In this developed center of Asia, the average price per square meter has reached $22,500. Berne, known as the capital of Switzerland, is in second place - $22,200.

The top ten is complemented by a number of other expensive cities:

- Geneva.

- Seoul

- Basel.

Tel Aviv-Yaffa

- London.

Interestingly, from a country with a developed economy like the USA, only one city - New York - made it to the TOP-20. She placed 11th in the rankings.

Growing global demand, land shortages, inflation, and the economic attractiveness of large megacities are all contributing to rapid price increases. According to experts, this growth may accelerate in some cities in the coming years.
