U.S. new immigration policy: bans on citizens of 19 countries

The US government has suspended the review of immigration applications from citizens of 19 countries. These restrictions mainly apply to citizens of Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Cuba, and Venezuela.

US President Donald Trump imposed restrictions on the entry of citizens of this country into the United States in June 2023. The new decree mainly covers applications for immigration through Green Card and citizenship programs. On December 2, some immigrants reported that their Green Card interviews had been cancelled.

The tightening of restrictions followed a shooting near the White House in Washington. As a result of the incident, a serviceman of the National Guard was killed, and another was seriously wounded. According to police, the suspect was a citizen of Afghanistan.
