The Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk came under a “large-scale” air attack by Russia on Sunday morning. According to the city’s mayor, infrastructure was damaged and water and electricity supplies were cut in some areas. No casualties have been reported yet.
The attack occurred shortly after peace talks between Ukrainian and US representatives concluded in Florida. President Zelensky described the talks as “constructive” and said that ensuring Russia’s compliance with a possible agreement was discussed.
European countries condemned the strike on Kremenchuk and expressed solidarity with Ukraine. French President Macron spoke with Zelensky and said efforts to achieve peace would continue. A meeting between leaders is scheduled in London on Monday.
European nations are adding their proposals to the US peace plan. They emphasize that Ukraine must have strong security guarantees even after the war. Russia, however, stated that it opposes the deployment of such international forces in Ukraine.
