The migration problem has been solved: Uzbek students escaped punishment

As a result of the cooperation of the Ombudsmen, the administrative penalty applied to 31 Uzbek students studying in Russia was canceled. This was reported by the press service of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights.

It is noted that during the visiting reception held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow, an appeal from Uzbek students studying at the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" (NI-YU VSHE) in Russia was considered. Students reported experiencing problems with registering for migration.

It was established that the university administration did not inform the competent authorities in a timely manner about the rules for extending the migration registration of foreign students. As a result, students remained in Russia for more than 90 permitted days, which was considered a violation of migration rules. A fine of 40,000 rubles has been imposed on the students.

This situation was taken under control by the Russian Human Rights Commissioner, and an investigation was conducted in cooperation with the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. As a result of the study, the temporary stay of foreign students was extended, and instructions were given not to apply fines or administrative expulsion measures to them.

Also, thanks to this work, the problems of more than 200 students from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Belarus have been resolved positively.
