As a result of the serious political crisis in Venezuela and US attacks on military and civilian facilities in Caracas, thousands of tourists were stranded in the Caribbean Sea. According to the British publication The Daily Mail, tourists remain anxious and uncertain due to flight delays.
Cyril E. King International Airport in St. Thomas cancelled 43 flights in the last 24 hours, while Queen Beatrix International Airport in Aruba cancelled 44 flights. 169 flights were canceled at Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in Puerto Rico.
According to American Airlines, the uncertainties in Venezuela affected 19 airports, including the US and British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Saint Martin, Saint Lucia, Barbados, and other islands.
The worsening situation in Venezuela is hindering the work of tourists and airlines. Cancellations and delays in international flights are causing significant damage to the tourism industry in the Caribbean. Uncertainty and anxiety are growing among tourists, as many airports and airlines are unable to quickly overcome this uncertainty.
