Azerbaijan sent humanitarian aid to Iran

The government of Azerbaijan sent humanitarian aid to Iranian territory. This decision was made following a phone conversation between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian on March 8. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the aid includes 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, over 4 tons of drinking water, 600 kilograms of tea, and nearly 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies. Prior to this aid, there was tension between the two countries. Specifically, drones launched from Iran crashed into the airport area in Naxichevan. The incident damaged the airport building and injured several civilians. Baku officials called on Tehran to provide an immediate explanation and conduct an investigation. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasized the need for measures to prevent such incidents in the future and stated it reserves the right to take countermeasures.
During the phone conversation, Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran was not involved in the drone attack. He promised that the incident would be thoroughly studied and investigated. This diplomatic dialogue and the dispatch of humanitarian aid are seen as steps aimed at stabilizing the situation in the region and resolving misunderstandings peacefully.
