Ramadan in Tajikistan may end in 29 days

In Tajikistan, the holy month of Ramadan may last 29 days instead of 30, as previously reported. This was reported by the Republican Committee on Religious Affairs. Therefore, there is a possibility that Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on March 19, not March 20.
Representatives of the agency explained that the duration of Ramadan this year is estimated based on lunar calendar calculations. According to them, this year the month of fasting in Tajikistan may end in 29 days.
This information was also confirmed by Saidmukarram Abdulqodirzoda, Chairman of the Council of Scholars of Tajikistan. According to him, in the lunar calendar, since the first two months - Rajab and Sha'ban - last 30 consecutive days, the third month is usually observed to be 29 days.
He also reminded that in many countries, Ramadan began a day earlier than in Tajikistan. According to Abdulqodirzoda, for this reason, Eid al-Fitr may be celebrated on March 19 in most countries of the Islamic world this year.
The Mufti of Tajikistan called on the population not to believe various rumors and not to worry needlessly. He emphasized that official decisions are made based on calendar calculations and Sharia rules.
