Land intrusion into Iran presents great risks and complexity

Currently, the US White House is exploring the possibility of a ground military operation against Iran, but many military analysts are issuing serious warnings. Iran's mountainous and wetland terrain serves as a wide trap for the modern army and creates significant logistical and humanitarian difficulties for any large-scale intervention.

Over the past week, large-scale operations of the US and Israel on Iranian facilities have been carried out. These actions intensified rumors about the possibility of a "great war" in the region. President Donald Trump does not avoid the possibility of ground intervention in his interviews, and reports of the deployment of the Pentagon's 82nd Airborne Division are exacerbating the situation.

According to experts, a large-scale invasion of Iran could lead to even greater humanitarian and logistical problems than the examples of Afghanistan and Vietnam. According to Professor Thomas Bony James of the University of Aberdeen, the Pentagon will not take such a step easily, and scenarios of high-speed "surgical" strikes, such as the immediate deployment and rapid evacuation of special forces to nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordo, or Isfahan, are likely to be considered.

However, Neil Kuilliam of Chatham House emphasizes that such an operation is the most dangerous and complex: "Introduction can be quick, but the exit from the geographical labyrinth is likely to be deep and long-lasting."

This situation makes the ground invasion of Iran a strategically dangerous operation requiring significant tactical planning.
