Mass protests erupt in Cuba against government

After a three-month US oil blockade, Cuba has reached the brink of a humanitarian disaster. Power outages last up to 15 hours per day, work processes have been disrupted, and food shortages are acutely felt.

Protesters angered by the situation have vandalized Communist Party offices across several regions. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stated he understands citizens’ grievances but emphasized that vandalism will not be tolerated.

The energy crisis has forced Havana to begin negotiations with Washington. Both sides have confirmed that dialogue is underway. Raul Gilermo Rodriguez Castro, grandson of Raul Castro and potential presidential successor, is also participating in the talks.

Previously, Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of using force if Cuba refused to cooperate with the US.
