North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been re-elected President of the country

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been re-elected as the country's president, according to the Korean Central News Agency (CTAK). The report states that "the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK re-elected Kim Jong Un as Chairman of State Affairs of the DPRK at its first session of the fifteenth convocation."
Kim Jong Un was proclaimed Supreme Leader of the DPRK, leader of the Workers' Party of Korea, and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Korean People's Army after the death of his father, Kim Jong-il, in 2011. In 2012, he was appointed head of the State Defense Committee, and in 2016, he became chairman of the State Council.
His position is also called "Chairman of State Affairs of the DPRK." In 2019, at the first session of the Supreme People's Assembly after the parliamentary elections, Kim Jong Un was again elected head of the State Council. Thus, he continues to strengthen his political and military positions.
