The tense situation around Iran is causing new conflicts in the Western military-political bloc. In particular, it is observed that views on strategic issues are increasingly diverging between the USA and its European allies.
The US government has called on allied countries to participate more actively in ensuring the security of the Strait of Hormuz. This region is one of the most important points of global oil transportation routes, and any instability in it poses a threat to the global energy market.
However, Germany and a number of other European countries are reacting cautiously to this initiative. In their opinion, this issue is not part of NATO's direct responsibilities.
Expert Nico Lange expressed his concerns on this matter, noting that the situation could lead to serious consequences. According to him, the policy of confrontation with Iran pursued by Donald Trump could lead to a deep crisis within NATO.
"This conflict not only weakens unity within the alliance but also casts doubt on projects related to Ukraine and the US's commitment to European security," the expert noted.
According to analysts, if disagreements between the parties continue, this could negatively impact cooperation within NATO and even undermine long-term strategic plans. Thus, the situation around Iran affects the political balance not only on a regional, but also on a global scale.
