Ukraine proposes mutual energy truce to Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kyiv is ready to negotiate an energy truce with Moscow. Speaking to journalists on March 30, he stated that Ukraine will stop targeting Russian energy infrastructure if Russia agrees to halt its strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities. Zelensky emphasized that Kyiv is open to discussing a complete ceasefire, which would include stopping all missile and drone attacks. Reports Dw.com.
The Ukrainian leader noted that recent strikes on Russian oil facilities were a direct response to Moscow's attacks. However, due to the global energy crisis, some international partners have urged Ukraine to scale back these operations. The crisis has been exacerbated by the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel in Iran, which recently prompted US President Donald Trump to temporarily ease certain sanctions on Russian oil exports.
Despite ongoing delays, Zelensky remains optimistic about the diplomatic process. He rejected the idea that US-mediated trilateral peace talks with Russia have reached a dead end. According to the president, the primary reason for the postponement of the negotiations, originally scheduled for early March in Turkey, is the shift in Washington's focus toward the situation in Iran. Nevertheless, Ukraine remains ready to hold discussions in any location other than Russia or Belarus.
