Women’s pension age will gradually increase in Kazakhstan!

In Kazakhstan, the pension age for women is gradually increasing. This was announced on April 9 by the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, Viktoriya Shegay.
She previously reminded that the increase in retirement age for women was temporarily paused.
“However, within the framework of current legislation, this process will gradually be aligned with men and will increase to 63 years,” said the deputy minister.
According to her, this measure is also connected with the amount of future pension payments: the longer a person participates in the pension accumulation system, the higher their future pension will be. At the same time, measures to support employment of older women are being strengthened in Kazakhstan.
“The ‘Silver Age’ program has started to help older women find employment. We subsidize part of their salary to encourage employers to hire experienced staff,” said Viktoriya Shegay.
Currently, in Kazakhstan, the pension age is 63 for men and 61 for women. At the same time, a temporary “freeze” on increasing the age for women remains in effect until the end of 2027.
The following steps will be implemented gradually: from 2028 – up to 61.5 years, then increasing every year, reaching 63 years by 2031, equalizing the pension age for women with men.
Now, it is expected that the pension age for women in Kazakhstan will gradually become equal to that of men, ensuring social justice and future financial stability.
