Woman nearly loses finger due to wedding ring

Doctors at the Hand Microsurgery Center of the Yeramishantsev Clinical Hospital in Moscow have successfully saved the finger of a woman who suffered a severe injury due to her wedding ring. This was reported by the press service of the capital's Department of Health.

It turned out that while the woman was working at her dacha, her wedding ring caught on a protruding part of a wall. When she tried to pull her hand away sharply, the ring exerted intense pressure on her finger, nearly severing her ring finger entirely.

Microsurgeon Alexander Sukhin noted that in such severe injuries, restoring blood circulation as quickly as possible is of critical importance. During a complex surgical procedure, the doctors successfully restored the bones, tendons, nerves, blood vessels, and soft tissues.

Currently, the woman is undergoing a rehabilitation course to fully restore the function of her finger.

Georgy Nazaryan, head of the Hand Microsurgery Center, advised removing rings and other jewelry during high-risk activities, such as gardening or construction, to prevent such incidents. According to him, in such situations, the ring does not slip off the finger; instead, it pulls on the soft tissues, which can lead to very severe injuries.
