Shocked by His Win: How a Maryland Resident Suddenly Became Rich

Intuition and gut feelings can sometimes radically change a person’s life. A Maryland resident in the United States relied on his instincts when buying a lottery ticket—and became a major winner in the blink of an eye became.

Two Tickets and an Unexpected Prize

The man, who lives in Prince George’s County, told Maryland Lottery officials about the incident. He stopped at the popular Wawa store in Capitol Heights and bought a ticket for his regular favorite game, “Bingo,” as well as a “Scratch & Match” ticket on a whim.

“You know, some tickets seem to draw you in like a magnet. That day, the ‘Scratch & Match’ ticket unexpectedly caught my attention, and I decided to buy it”, the winner said.

A Double Shock: The Real Surprise at Home

After returning home, the man began scratching off the protective coating on the ticket. Two instant-win symbols resembling “bundles of money” appeared on the screen. Looking more closely, he realized that behind each symbol was a prize worth $50,000 and that his total winnings amounted to $100,000 .

“I was shocked when I saw the first $50,000 prize. But when I realized there was another $50,000 right next to it, I was completely stunned”, he recalled.

Winnings Will Go Toward the Family Budget and Good Causes

A subsequent official check at a local lottery retailer left no room for doubt—the man and his wife had indeed won the grand prize of $100,000.

The family said the unexpected windfall would go toward paying accumulated utility and other bills, as well as providing financial assistance to close relatives.
